Laser Hair Removal Equipment

The use of lasers on the human body is not restricted to the Lasik procedures to remove unwanted tissue, but can also be used to be a long-term hair restriction method of individuals with unwanted portions of hair. Now widely accepted, dermatology has only recently been using laser hair removal equipment since the 1998 use in the Massachusetts General Hospital. Laser hair removal is, as per regulations set forth by the Food and Drug administration, not permanent, but a long-lasting solution to unwanted hair. Electrolysis is another method by which hair can be permanently removed, by the procedure is more painful and has an increased potential for scarring.

The laser hair removal equipment required is fairly minimalistic with only the required pulse laser in tow. Typically, the width of the laser is 4 times the depth of the hair, which gives the surgeon or practitioner a lot of room to work with. Fluence is the energy level of the laser beam measured in Joules/square centimeter. It is important to do this in order to cause permanent damage to the hair follicles, but less than enough to do permanent damage to the skin. It is important to understand that a full treatment to of laser hair removal takes many weeks, up to 12, and does not permanently remove hair, but it does do so for a long-time.
