Laser Welding Equipment

There is a new push for the speed and efficiency of laser welding equipment. Laser beam welding is a technique which utilizes the high energy of a laser bean to heat that which it contacts. Since the metal joints can be heated, they are usually welded together. The automotive industry has taken off with these welders and placed them into the hands or XYZ coordinate plane aware robots which accurately and quickly weld different stages of fabrication of the car.

Generally the size of the laser varies between .2mm and 13mm think, depending on the application. Also, the application determines the power of the laser. The greater the depth of the weld required, the more power the laser will need to be given. Generally, the automotive industry and other high volume industries will use the robots with fiber lasers to be sure that the accuracy and speed of the production line is maintained. The robot can easily be programmed to weld in specific areas at a specific speed and will, with mathematical certainty, move throughout its task to be sure that the wilding is done sufficiently.
